City of Ghosts

Anyone who’s been to one of the city’s legendary 48 hour techno parties at the likes of Berghain and Panorama Bar will testify that Berlin can be a city of extremes. Even so, Berlin-based photographer Michael Wesely’s ‘Open Shutter’ series pushes long-exposure photography beyond it’s limits.

Single-frame shots capturing building projects over the course of years document the permanence of these vast structures as set clear against the ghosts of passing of light, time and people through the frame, resulting in a strangely haunting final image.
