The Chip Shop Awards 2012
The entries are in and the finalists now selected for the annual celebration of bad taste advertising that is the Chip Shop Awards. As the blurb on the website states:
“The Chip Shop Awards is about fostering and recognising creativity with no boundaries and no rules. It’s an international creative awards, open to anyone with great ideas. Since its launch in 2002, these awards have produced some of the cleverest, funniest, worst taste advertising and design ever seen”
The submissions and finalists can be viewed here, and there is plenty of the aforementioned bad taste and politically incorrect humour on show, but also some very clever ideas in amongst a few truly cringeworthy entries (a mocked up Nike advert featuring Gary Speed – I’ll leave you to guess the punchline – particularly stands out). Other “is-nothing-sacred?”entries this year include various send-ups of MJ, Whitney Houston and Fabrice Muamba, to name but a few.

The ‘Chip’ and ‘Vinegar’ awards will be announced and handed out at the awards do being held in June in London. For more information about the awards cermony click here.
