It’s the first weekend of the New Year. 2013 stretches out in front of us like a long grey motorway. We’re all tired, fat and skint. But hey, don’t let that stop you from doing stuff this weekend!

Eat Here: MEATMission, Hoxton Market

d453a19dbbf7acbe4734b4301b0d0b79

Another burger place? Really? Yes, really. The latest offering from the forefathers of the ‘London Burger Scene’ who have already put the MEAT into Liquor and Market, this one is in a converted missionary church in Shoreditch, and is well worth falling off the diet wagon early for. Expect the usual array of filthy burgers, alco-shakes, beers and cocktails with a few welcome new additions including the ‘Peckham Dip’. And, astonishingly. you can actually reserve a table there! Will 2013 finally spell the end for infuriating no-reservation hip food hotspots? Probably not.

MEAT Mission, 14-15 Hoxton Market N1 6HG

See this: Fuerzabruta, Camden Roundhouse

fuerzabruta1_2

Having reopened the Roundhouse in a roar of testosterone six years ago, stunt-packed Argentinian performance clubbing extravaganza ‘Fuerzabruta’ is back, largely unchanged, and still offering up a joyous, unselfconscious overload of acrobatics, drums and guns and things smashing that’s perfect for blowing away the January cobwebs.

Until 26 Jan, The Roundhouse, Chalk Farm Rd, London NW1 8EH

Listen to this: 2012’s best albums

frank-ocean-alternate-4

With an overwhelming number of Year End Lists to choose from, this handy ‘meta’ version from Stool Pigeon lays out the top 25 albums from 2012 as calculated from 17 different sites or magazines. The calculation was made by awarding 25 points to each of those publications’ top-rated album, with the scale sliding down to 1 point for their 25th placed record. Whilst Stool Pigeon themselves point out the arbitrary nature of these lists, this one does at least deliver a fuller consensus of opinion on some of the best records from last year. So do yourself a favour this weekend and pick up one or two of the albums from the list that might have passed you by:

1. Channel Orange, Frank Ocean (299 points)
