Everything is a remix

by thewheatandthechaff

After my last couple of posts bemoaning a lack of originality in recent marketing communications from Fiat and Adidas, this felt like an apt time to feature a great series of films and an accompanying TED talk by Kirby Ferguson on the basic elements of creativity: ‘copy, transform and combine’. Everyone copies other great ideas, of course they do. But there is a world of difference between a great remix which transforms an original concept into something fresh and compelling in its own right, and a terrible cover song that rehashes the same idea without adding anything new or, worse, being so bad it somehow tarnishes your memory of the original. Creatives everywhere: take note.

And here’s Kirby’s TED talk on the subject.
