FKA Twigs: Water Me

by thewheatandthechaff

The first single from FKA twigs‘ forthcoming EP2 (out September 9 via Young Turks) is a sparse and rickety ethereal ballad with a build that’s reminiscent of Usher and Diplo’s surprising exercise in restraint, Climax, but, crucially, without any of the catharsis that track brings.

My one piece of advice would be to not watch the video on your first listen. It’s Aphex Twin-esque face warping as the song progresses is nauseating and unoriginal, and only serves to detract from the song’s emotional force.
